INSIDE World Music brings the Kabar Ensemble from Hungary to the Beck =
Center in Lakewood, Ohio on Friday night, July 28th at 8:00 PM for a =
concert and dance party. Kabar plays the raw and energetic traditional =
Hungarian village music that inspired Bartok and Kodaly. These young =
musicians began playing together while still in grade school in their =
home village of Kaz=E1r, near Salgotarjan in the Pal=F3c region of =
northern Hungary. Over the years they have sought out and studied with =
masters of traditional music throughout Hungary and in Transylvania. =
The Kabar Ensemble's music and their village was the subject of an =
acclaimed documentary on Hungarian national television in 2005. In =
addition to Hungary, the group has performed in the Czech Republic, =
Romania and Croatia. Kabar's first American tour comes at the =
invitation of the Hungarian Scouting Organization in celebration of =
their 50-year jubilee. The tour also marks the release of Kabar's first =
CD. At the July 28th concert, the group will be joined by their =
teacher, renowned folk violinist Szabolcs Hr=FAz of the D=FBv=F5 =
ensemble, and singer J=FAlia Kubinyi. After the concert, the Kabar =
Ensemble will play for a t=E1nch=E1z, a traditional dance party. =
Hungarian pastries and refreshments will be available. Advance tickets =
are $15 for adults and $10 for students. To purchase tickets, call the =
