Actors=E2=80=99 Summit Theater announces the  world premiere of a new work,=20=
Nat King=20
Cole & Friends. The  play, described as a bio-cabaret, presents 23 songs mad=
e=20
famous by the Chicago  jazz artist as well as stories about his family and=20
career.  The play will  have a preview performance on Thursday,  July 20 and=
 will=20
play through August 13th at Actors=E2=80=99 Summit Theater in  downtown Huds=
on. (The=20
play=E2=80=99s opening was pushed back from its original July 6  opening dat=
e because=20
of the extended run of Don=E2=80=99t Hug Me.) Nat King Cole will be  perform=
ed=20
Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays at 8  PM and  Sundays at 2PM.=20
The Play =20
Most people know Nat =E2=80=98King=E2=80=99 Cole as a dynamic singer of such=
 pop hits as =20
Mona Lisa, The Christmas Song, Lazy Hazy  Crazy Days of Summer, Ramblin=E2=
=80=99 Rose=20
and Route 66. Others may know of Nat through  his daughter Natalie=E2=80=99s=
 duet with=20
her father of Unforgettable.=20
But fans of classic American Jazz, know him as a great pianist. His youth =20
was spent listening to and jamming with Jazz greats including: Louis Armstro=
ng, =20
Art Tatum, Earl Hines, and Les Ford. Years of playing for tips in Southern =20
California bars preceded his breakthrough to pop  music.=20
The play also includes stories about his Father, a minister; his mother  who=
=20
taught him to play the piano; and his brother and sisters. In addition to =20
Natalie, the Cole=E2=80=99s had four other children, two of whom were adopte=
d.  =20
The  script was co-written by A. Neil Thackaberry, artistic director of=20
Actors'  Summit, and Kent LeMar who will portray Cole.=20
The  Cast=20
Kent Le Mar stars as Nat =E2=80=9CKing=E2=80=9D Cole. Kent has a  long stand=
ing relationship=20
with Actors=E2=80=99 Summit spanning the last seven years. He  has performed=
=20
everything from a minor walk on in the 1999 production of The Gingerbread La=
dy to the=20
lead role in  the 2005 production of Cotton Patch  Gospel. Other Actors=E2=
=80=99=20
Summit assignments have included A Cricket On the Hearth, A Winnie The Pooh=20=
=20
Christmas Tail, The World Goes Round, Personals, The Ugly Duckling, Lend Me=20=
A =20
Tenor, Piano Bar, and The Thing About  Men. He has appeared in Working  at T=
ri-C,=20
and played the part of Walter Lee in A Raisin In The Sun at Players=E2=80=
=99 Guild =20
Theater. He directed and performed in =E2=80=9CCelebrate!, A Collage Of Song=
 And Dance=E2=80=9D =20
with Rainbow Repertory Company. He is the director and owner of the Kent Le=20
Mar  Dance Studio in Cuyahoga Falls.  In  addition to acting, Kent is a sing=
er,=20
songwriter, choreographer, author, and  stage manager.=20
Performance Schedule
Nat King Cole and  Friends will  have a preview performance on July 20. The=20
official opening on Friday, July 21  will be followed by a reception with th=
e=20
cast. Regular performances continue  through August 13, Thursdays, Fridays &=
=20
Saturdays at 8:00  PM  and Sundays at 2:00  PM.  =20
Tickets
Tickets  are $25 on Fridays & Saturdays, $22 on Thursdays & Sundays. College=
 =20
students and seniors receive a $4 discount at all performances. Students=20
under  age 18 are admitted for half price. Season subscriptions and Discount=
=20
Coupons  are now available. Group discounts are available for parties of 10=20=
