events.

Job Description for Music Librarian

The position requires a broad range of skills including a thorough knowledge
of orchestral matters and a superior knowledge of music .Excellent
organizational, scheduling and personnel management skills are a necessity.
The Music Librarian is a "hands on" team player and must successfully and
collaboratively work with the Orchestra Personnel Manager, Conductors,
individual musicians and opera management through all phases of production.
The Music Librarian is responsible for assisting in long range planning, and
proactively planning for upcoming seasons. Strong communication skills and
accurate record keeping are required for the position. The position reports
directly to the Director of Production and responsibilities include:

Primary duties include:

*	Working directly with orchestra personnel manager and opera
management on orchestral matters.
*	Contacting rental/publishing companies to arrange for music and
parts rentals.
*	Managing season timelines in relation to orchestra needs in
coordination with Orchestra Personnel Manager, Conductors, and opera
management.
*	Coordinating bowings - putting bowing notations in string parts.
*	Working directly with opera management to create and distribute cut
lists as needed.
*	Xeroxing, picking up, delivering, returning, erasing, and sending
all orchestra parts to musicians, music staff, and other personnel as
needed.
*	Picking up, maintaining, and putting out parts for each service.
*	Maintaining up to date, accurate documentation for each season.
*	Inventory and maintain music library.
*	Attendance required at all orchestra services and meetings as
needed.
