National/International tours of RENT, as well as making numerous appearances on
Conan O Brien. Matthew released his debut album LIFE a year ago and has performed
his original music all over the country.

The past 2 years, Matthew has been back in Cleveland teaching beginners of
all ages how to play guitar/piano. Matthew has also been developing young
artists in music as well as career consulting in that field.

Two years ago Matthew began developing/writing songs for Jami Ross from
Mentor. Starting off in nursing homes, Jami this past summer has opened for
Jewel/Rob Thomas at Blossom, Disney's ALY&AJ at Towercity Amphitheater and has been
named Scene Magazine's best new artist of the year. Jami is signed to Abrahm's
agency in Los Angeles and has a lot of potential to make it as a music artist.
Matthew has also consulted many other young artists who are thinking about a
career in music.

looking for new students this fall. Matthew teaches a non-classical style that
focuses on chords/songwriting as well as the basics. Matthew teaches the songs the
students want to learn. Half hour/hour lessons are available. Price depends on
how far Matthew has to drive as he teaches at your home.

Artist Development/Music Career Consulting

Matthew is always looking for new talent to develop/write for. Currently
Matthew would like to find a male singer to work with like he is doing with Jami
Ross. Matthew is also available whether it be advice on an audition for a

The opening weekend of Beggars in the House of Plenty received a rave review from CoolCleveland's Linda Eisenstein. The following is an excerpt of the review:
"What: A blisteringly funny/tragic memory play about a Bronx Irish family by John Patrick Shanley. Think Eugene O'Neill on LSD.
Reasons to go: What's in that Akron water? The two Seans (McConaha and Derry) have been turning out some of the best work in NE Ohio, doing terrific but unknown plays by top-notch playwrights that are challenging but always emotionally gripping. McConaha gets some of the best performances ever out of local actors: Doug Cusak burns up the stage as Derry's drunken brother, while Michael Regnier does a memorable turn as his hellish butcher father. "

Beggars in the House of Plenty, directed by Sean McConaha, explores the myths and reality of an Irish-American family, through the eyes and memory of the play's main character, Johnny (Sean Derry). He is the youngest of three siblings in an Irish Catholic household lorded over by a violent father (Michael Regnier), a butcher from the Bronx, and a shrewish mother (Anne McEvoy), who can offer only cold advice, not comfort, to her family. The family also includes Johnny's aunt, Sister Mary Kate (Nikki Bowers), a Catholic nun who visits the family. Johnny's sister Sheila (Sarah Weinhardt) escapes her family through marriage, while older brother Joey (Doug Kusak), a high school dropout, chooses a career in the navy and eventually returns from Vietnam. On his own, Johnny finds a way to comfort himself through pyromania and writing about his family. As he grows up, he becomes increasingly perceptive, illuminating more of the reasons behind the sad madness of his family. Johnny's thoughts, constantly interrupted by the violent interactions of his family members, lead us to a dream like ending full of the harsh reality that he and his siblings have been merely beggars for love in house filled with plenty.
In addition, the BNC Theatre 1st Annual Just Off-Broadway Comedy Series, featuring two one-acts by David Ives, has met with incredible success. The two one-acts, Speed the Play and Foreplay, or, The Art of the Fugue, are part of the Akron Art Museum's Downtown @ Dusk Concert Series. The one-acts run every Thursday, July 13 - Aug. 24, from 8:50 pm - 9:20 pm, on the second floor of the Summit ArtSpace Facility, 140 E. Market Street. Admission is free. This comedy series is not recommended for those under the age of 16, due to mature themes and content.
