Cleveland Public Theatre Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan is proud to
announce the 2006-2007 Season:
off the fence and on target
an adventurous array of theatre, dance, performance and ideas
"Cleveland Public Theatre was founded to become the place for the newest,
most adventurous and most politically relevant works of performance. Our
commitment to the public is to offer works that no one else in Cleveland
will in a way that no one else can and I believe our season reflects that,"
states Bobgan. CPT's philosophy, that the arts can literally change the
world, is actualized through strategic programming and investing resources
in artists and communities that have traditionally been underserved.

Pandemonium 06 - The Cure For What Ails You!
Saturday, September 16, 7:00pm
Tickets $100
Come and sample the snake oil king's cure-all elixir at Pandemonium 06, our
benefit extravaganza fortified with innovative visual and performing arts
and fabulous food! Experience artistic elixirs created by area theatre,
dance, visual and performing artists for one night only. Join us as we honor
Paul Volpe of City Architecture with the 2006 Pan Award.

M4M: An all male version of William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure
Preview September 28; Runs September 29 - October 14
Conceived and directed by Craig George. M4M explores themes of the abuse of
power and sexual exploitation in a very contemporary take on this classic -
Sex, Lies and Transvestites. M4M is an original adaptation of Shakespeare's
play that uses 6 male actors to portray 12 male and 6 female characters --
exploring the comic, erotic and disturbing effects on the audience of cross
gender performances.
HOT TOPICS
October 19 - November 5
Three weekends of political debate on stage just in time for the election.
Each weekend, CPT artists will present a fully staged reading of a new play
that focuses on an issue that impacts our lives, our country and where we
are going as a people. Shows will be followed by town-hall style panels and
discussions. Works under consideration include the controversial
Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom and Capitalized.
THE SANTALAND DIARIES by David Sedaris
Preview November 23; Runs November 24 - December 23
The elf is back by popular demand! Best selling author David Sedaris'
battle weary and bitter chronicle of his humiliating days as a Macy's elf,
The Santaland Diaries was a delight to audiences last year. Andrew Tarr
returns to CPT in a new holiday classic!
BIG [BOX]
Runs January 5 - February 18
Artists risk it all with their newest works. On separate weeks, six artists
are given keys to the theatre and left alone to create. This is a series for
those who love the thrill of new work.
STARS FELL ALL NIGHT by Mike Geither
Preview March 1; Runs March 2 - March 17
It's Six Feet Under meets Touched by an Angel. Jacqi Loewy directs this
strange and wonderful new play by local playwright Mike Geither. A
disturbed mortician, an appearance by Mary and bizarre games of charades
await.
TWO HEADED by Julie Jensen
A co-production with TitleWave
Preview May 31; Runs June 1 - June 16
TitleWave Artistic Director Greg Vovos tackles this haunting portrayal of a
40 year friendship riddled with secrets, where two Mormon women in the 19th
century pretend to live one reality to hide from the actuality they can't
escape. The award-winning work of playwright Julie Jensen and TitleWave
returns to CPT following the critically acclaimed production of Wait!
GORDON SQUARE THEATRE

NOT QUITE THEATRE SERIES

Not your typical night at the theatre - 5 different weekends of acting out,

Theatre Series will present an array of premiere performances including
spoken word, performance art, theatre, dance and music in a unique
curatorial setting The Not Quite Theatre Series will feature the work of
SAFMOD, AllGoSigns and Greg Vovos among others.
THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW by Richard O'Brien
Preview November 30; Runs December 1 - December 23
The holidays are the perfect time for revisiting the past and celebrating
with some good, clean fun. CPT returns to the show that first put us on the
map - the world's favorite rock and roll musical!
SLEEP DEPRIVATION CHAMBER by Adrienne Kennedy and Adam Kennedy
Preview January 11; Runs January 12 - January 27
While nationally acclaimed playwright Adrienne Kennedy was in rehearsal at
Cleveland's Ohio Theatre, her son was beaten by police and charged with
assaulting an officer. Sleep Deprivation Chamber follows her sleepless
nights while her son's fate hung in the balance.
OUR TOWN by Thornton Wilder
Preview April 19; Runs April 20 - May 12
Known for his inventive revisionings of American classics, CPT Artistic
Director Raymond Bobgan takes on Thornton Wilder. It's Our Town as it's
never been seen before.

Great companies, great dance, from a great city. This popular festival of
contemporary dance returns, featuring talented and diverse area companies
