writing for the theatre. All exercises are designed to hone your skills
as well as encourage free expression. At the same time, we review the
basic elements of dramatic writing: plot, character, voice, and
structure in Stuart Spencer's "The Playwright's Guidebook." Students

ABOUT FAYE SHOLITON
Faye Sholiton is a member of the Playwrights' Unit at the Cleveland Play
House, where she has developed her work since 1996.=20

THE INTERVIEW, her best-known full-length play, is a drama set in the
aftermath of the Holocaust. Winner of three national new play
competitions and an Ohio Arts Council (OAC) grant, it has had six
critically acclaimed productions and more than a dozen staged readings
from New York to L.A.

Other full-length works include THE GOOD TIMES, a newsroom comedy; A
FORM OF HOPE, a play commissioned to honor slain Olympic athlete David
Berger; and V-E DAY, a play that explores the toll of World War II on
the Greatest Generation. V-E DAY, honored in three national competitions
and awarded a second OAC grant, was read in May 2006, at L.A.'s Blank
Theatre.

Her new play, ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL, was inspired by a reverse
discrimination case that languished in America's court system for nearly
a decade. Read recently in Karamu's 2006 ArenaFest festival, it is also
part of the 2006 new play festival sponsored by the North American
Actors Association, at the Soho Theatre, in London's West End. =20

Sholiton, a member of the Dramatists' Guild, is theater writer for
Northern Ohio Live Magazine. She has taught playwriting at venues as
diverse as Cleveland State University (part of the Imagination Writers
Workshop); the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, and Crystal Cruises,
where she has led popular on-board workshops. She and husband, David,
are the parents of two grown children.

This class be held at our annex, Mayfield Village Civic Center right off
of I-271 and Wilson Mills Rd. 6622 Wilson Mills Rd. at the corner of
Wilson Mills and SOM Center Rd. (Ohio Rt. 91)=20
