The Teens 2 Homes Community Chorus is seeking new choir members.

If you have a connection to adoption or foster care, consider joining
us at our next rehearsal on Monday, September 18.

Who we are . . .
The choir is comprised of teenagers who live in foster homes and
interested adults from all over the community.  Our performances raise
public awareness of the need for teenagers to be welcomed into permanent
families.  We made our public debut this summer at the Rock & Roll Hall
of Fame and Museum, and continue to perform our unique blend of hip-hop,
pop, and traditional choral music all over the community.

Who can join?
Anyone with the desire to sing and work together is welcome to join the
chorus.  However, many individuals may find singing with the choir a
particularly rewarding experience:
-- Families and individuals considering adopting
-- Adult adoptees and former foster children
-- New teachers looking to gain more experience with "at risk" youth
-- Adoptive families and families with teenaged foster children
-- Anyone who wants to become involved with kids who need role models

What is the program?
The Teens 2 Homes program encompasses not only the chorus, but also a
summer camp, mentoring program, and peer groups.  As a whole, the
project seeks to improve permanency for youth over the age of 12 in the
child welfare system.  We are based out of the Adoption Center at
Bellefaire JCB, but partner with agencies in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lorain,
Summit, and Tuscarawas Counties.

What level of commitment is required?
As much or as little as you want.  Our rehearsals are designed to
welcome new members each week.  We're happy for you to attend rehearsals
whenever you can.

What kind of music does the Chorus sing?
We call it "Hip-Hop Fusion" - our repertoire focuses on songs that
blend rap with pop, gospel, and traditional choral styles.  Some of the
songs we're looking at this semester:
-- Summertime: a medley of the Gershwin standard and the Will Smith
song of the same name
-- Just Like Me:   Darryl McDaniels and Sarah McLachlan's take on Cats
in the Cradle
-- 2-4 Family's Hip-Pop cover of Lean on Me
-- Joyful, Joyful from Sister Act 2
-- Gangsta's Paradise, Hey Ya by OutKast, and Seasons of Love from
Rent

When and where are rehearsals?
We rehearse on Monday evenings, from 6:30 to 8:00, at Bellefaire, 22001
Fairmount Blvd. in Shaker Heights.  Our first rehearsal this year is
September 18.
