 staged reading of The Fighting Days, the life story of Francis Marion Beyn=
on, a Canadian journalist and political activist who spearheaded the Votes-=
for-Women movement during the early 1900=92s.  The Fighting Days, written b=
y Wendy Lill, will be performed on October 12, 13, 15, 19, 20, and 22nd, at=
 7:30 pm. All shows will be held downtown at the Cleveland Arts Theater (lo=

n the life and work of Beynon=92s political activities during 1910- 1917 as=
 she became a prominent voice for the rights of rural women, working for im=
proved divorce, child custody, the Votes - for - Women movement and other i=
mportant issues of the day.  As Canada became involved in WWI, Beynon's def=
ense of foreigners=92 right to vote divided the suffragists: should all wom=
en have the vote or just Dominion - born women who are sending their husban=
ds and sons off to battle?  This is a play about the polarities of public a=
nd private lives, and about issues of racism and pacifism within the women'=
s movement, The Fighting Days deals with timeless moral concerns.  Francis =
Marion Benyon gave us everything for her beliefs and one can only hope the =
