Concert Also Features Oberlin Choir

OBERLIN, OHIO (November 28, 2006)=97Robert Walters, solo English horn =20=

with the oboe section of the Cleveland Orchestra and Visiting =20
Assistant Professor of Oboe and English Horn at the Oberlin =20
Conservatory of Music, will have the honor of performing as soloist =20
with the Cleveland Orchestra on December 7-9. Walters will perform =20
Ned Rorem=92s Concerto for English Horn on a series of concerts that =20
also showcases the Women=92s Voices of the Oberlin Conservatory.

Performances will be held Thursday =96 Saturday, December 7 =96 9, at 8 =20=

p.m. In addition to the Rorem concerto, the program will include =20
Beethoven=92s Overture to Prometheus and Holst=92s The Planets, which =20=

will feature the Women=92s Voices of the Oberlin Conservatory.

The Planets will be performed separately at 3 p.m. on Saturday, =20
December 9 and Sunday, December 10. Those performances, as well as =20
the Friday, December 8 performance at 8 p.m., will include NASA =20
images projected on a large screen above the Orchestra and narration =20
by physicist Lawrence Krauss.

Michael Stern will conduct all of the concerts, which will be held in =20=

Severance Hall, located at 11001 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland=92s =20

Robert Walters is currently a member of the oboe section of the =20
Cleveland Orchestra as the solo English horn player, a distinction he =20=

has held since 2004.  He has held the same position with the =20
Metropolitan Opera and Cincinnati Symphony orchestras, and has =20
performed and recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Recently he =20
was guest soloist with the Chicago Symphony and Orpheus Chamber =20
orchestras. Other solo appearances include performances with the =20
Cincinnati, Redlands, and Curtis Institute symphony orchestras, the =20
New York Chamber Soloists, Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, and the =20=

Beijing Radio Symphony (China).
  Walters has participated in the National Repertory Orchestra, the =20
Bard, Blossom, Spoleto, and Marlboro music festivals, and toured as a =20=

member of Musicians from Marlboro.  He is currently on the artist =20
faculty of the Aspen and Colorado College music festivals, and has =20
been Instructor of Oboe at the University of Pennsylvania and at Bard =20=

and Haverford colleges.

   A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Columbia =20
University Graduate Writing Division, Walters has studied with =20
Richard Woodhams, Principal Oboe of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and =20
the late John Mack, former Principal Oboe of the Cleveland Orchestra.

The Women=92s Voices of the Oberlin Conservatory is a group composed of =20=

members from the highly selective Oberlin College Choir, an ensemble =20
of forty voices chosen from students at the Oberlin Conservatory of =20
Music and Oberlin College. The choir, founded by Olaf C. Christiansen =20=

in 1929, has won critical acclaim for performances in the United =20
States and abroad, and has performed in Severance Hall, the Kennedy =20
