Creative Dramatics and Play-Making  (1st =E2=80=93 2nd grade, 3rd =E2=80=93=20=
4th  grade)
Instructor: Lissy Gulick
Ten  Sessions
1st =E2=80=93 2nd grade: Saturdays, Starting January 20,  2007; 9:30 =E2=80=

3rd =E2=80=93 4th grade: Saturdays, Starting  January 20, 2007; 11:00am =E2=

Using theater  games and  creative dramatics, this class will acquaint young=
=20
actors with  the "actors' tools" of BODY, VOICE, and IMAGINATION,  as well a=
s=20
build  communication, group cooperation, and the confidence to express and=20
contribute  one's ideas to the group. With a folk or fairytale as the take-o=
ff=20
point, the  class will  explore the elements that you must have to make a pl=
ay,=20
and  what it takes to get a story "off the page and onto its feet" -- and in=
=20
the  process, we will generate an original theatre piece which will be=20
presented as  the culmination of the class.

Creating Theatre (5th - 6th  grade)
Instructor: Lissy Gulick
Ten  Sessions
Saturdays, Starting January 20, 2007; 12:30pm =E2=80=93 1:45pm
Fee:  $135

This class will help young actors to "sharpen" the "actors' tools"  of BODY,=
=20
VOICE, and IMAGINATION, and help kids learn to communicate and tune in  to=20
themselves and to the group around them. Building on theater-based =20
problem-solving games and exercises, the group will move into elements of  p=
lay-making such=20
as creating characters, establishing a sense of place, and  building and=20
resolving conflict, which will serve as the foundation for creating  origina=
l=20
monologues and scenes that have a dramatic structure no matter how  brief. T=
he=20
class will culminate in the presentation of a showcase of original  work.
