PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS
Taught by local playwright Sarah Morton=20

In this 8-session intensive,  students will explore the fundamentals of=20
playwriting,  including dramatic structure, story, theatrical language/ dial=
ogue,=20
and character development. Learn how to transform your ideas from the page i=
nto=20
vivid, dynamic, and theatrical writing for the stage.  Discover your own=20
unique voice as a playwright, in a small, supportive workshop setting.=20

Workshop is geared towards beginning playwrights, but all levels of=20
experience are welcome.  =20

Class meets on Monday evenings, from 6:30- 9 pm.=20

About the instructor:=20

Sarah Morton has been called =E2=80=98the Cleveland area's most consistently=
=20
entertaining and intellectually satisfying playwright."  Her play, NIGHT BLO=
OMERS, was=20
recently produced by Dobama Theatre, and presented as part of  Fusion Fest=20
2006 at The Cleveland Play House. She performed her solo piece, 4 MINUTES TO=
=20
HAPPY at The New York International Fringe Festival and Cleveland Public The=
atre,=20
where it was nominated for a Northern Ohio Live Theatre Achievement Award an=
d=20
a Cleveland Theater Collective award for Best Actress.  Other  productions=20
include  THREE WORDS with Great Lakes Theatre Festival (tour),  NIGHT BLOOME=
RS=20
with Emerging Artists Theater in NYC, and SAFETY at Dobama Theatre.  She has=
=20
been an artist/teacher in residence at Cleveland State University, Cleveland=
=20
School of the Arts, Shaker Heights High School, and Hathaway Brown School, a=
nd an=20
education staff member at Cleveland Public Theatre, where she taught Writing=
=20
for Solo Performance for beginning and advanced adult students.  For the pas=
t=20
eight years, she has been teaching and designing curriculum for The Clevelan=
d=20
Play House's  highly regarded  Young Playwrights Workshop, a program for=20
gifted high school writers.=20
