TrueNorth Cultural Arts prides itself in attracting and retaining faculty
members of national and international prominence and professionalism. None
can be truer than that of the credentials exhibited by one our their newest
faculty members, Shifu Li Peizhi (Rebecca Lee), TrueNorth’s Chinese Tai Chi
instructor.

Rebecca studied under the famous Master Huang Qin Long in Fuzhou China for
14 years. She was tested and received her teaching certificate in 1999. In
2000 she won first Place for Women for Wu Dang Tai Chi Quan in the 2000
China Qingdao International Wushu Championship. She taught in China from
1999 until May 2005, when she came to the U.S.A. She received a gold medal
in Wu Dang Tai Chi Quan at the Chinese Martial Arts Championship in Oct.
2005 and was awarded First Place in Wu Dang Tai Chi at the Hall of Fame Open
in Canton, Ohio in 2006.

Chinese Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese sport designed to enhance physical
health and delay aging. It is a soft, slow and flexible boxing especially
suitable for physical exercise by different age people. Chinese Tai Chi is
a set of exercises created according to the relationship between our
universe and human bodies. Tai Chi emphasizes harmony between heaven and
humans, physical and spiritual presence, dynamic and static combination. By
doing Tai Chi, the spiritual pressure is released; the human body’s
circulation is promoted; breathing, circulation and joint health are
inter-connected; and spiritual power is raised. Practicing Chinese Tai Chi
provides an excellent exercise for the body’s bone structure, muscle
texture, and internal organs. It helps prevent and cure diseases, slows
down the aging process, and helps us live longer. The movement of Tai Chi is
not limited to movement of limbs, muscles and joints, it is extended to
coordinating deep breath. It emphasizes movement with spiritual awareness
to relax the whole body, to focus consciousness into movement, to instruct
with the mind, to move the body with force and direct it at will. It is
required to continue moving using dynamic movements and to restrain dynamic
movement at will, so as to balance yin and yang. The reason why Tai Chi is
popular is because Tai Chi is very scientifically developed and in
compliance with the human body’s structure and laws of movement. It
organically integrates the human body’s integrity, coordination and
beautiful movements.

Rebecca Lee is currently offering Tai Chi classes for both youth and adult
students in the TrueNorth Cultural Arts Dance Studio located at 33491 Lake
