NEWS RELEASE
Contact: Melanie YC Pepe (330) 836-2626x 17
World famous works of art and literature will come to life on the =
stage; wouldn't your students love to come and experience it? =
Weathervane offers to immerse your students into history with school-day =
matinee performances of two exciting and educational dramas.

    January 17 - February 4, 2007, Weathervane Playhouse is proud to =
present All My Sons, a landmark American drama by Arthur Miller. With =
today's national headlines of war in Iraq, and executives and financial =
officers of major corporations behind bars, the contemporary relevance =
of All My Sons is startling. Miller introduces themes that thread =
through his work as a whole: exploring the relationships and =
responsibilities between families, neighbors and communities and the =
resulting conflicts between business and personal ethics. World War II =
has ended as Joe Keller, an airplane parts manufacturer is caught in a =
personal battle between individual responsibility and business success =
that could threaten his search for the American dream.

    February 20 - March 4, 2007, Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare =
will grace our stage. With dynamic fight choreography, lively =
Renaissance music, Elizabethan dance and period costumes, our actors =
will bring this vibrant tale to life! Let our enthusiastic teen ensemble =
engage your students with what they have discovered about Shakespeare, =
his literature, and the Elizabethan era. The talkback session also =
explores the enduring relevance of Shakespeare's themes.

Both of these productions are a part of our "Project STAGE" Season. =
Project STAGE stands for "Students Through Acting Gain Education," and =
feature:

    a.. Off-site visits to Weathervane performances=20
b.. Pre-performance lecture and discussions to your classrooms=20
c.. Study guides to prepare your class for the performance=20
d.. Post-performance discussion topics that engage them in =
thoughtful discussion during.=20
e.. A talkback session, immediately after the performance with the =
director, actors and fellow students.=20
We are offering six more school-day matinee performances, and they =
are filling-up fast! Tickets are offered for only $8 per student. For =
performances of Romeo & Juliet we offer a group rate of $7 per ticket =
for groups of 15 or more. With this letter we are pleased to offer one =
free ticket for teachers per every 15 student tickets purchased.

Romeo & Juliet ~ February 20, 22 & 28 and March 1, 2007 at 10:00 am

Weathervane Playhouse and its programs serve as a vital artistic =
resource for the young people of Akron and Northeast Ohio. The theatre =
arts teach us to describe, think critically, and question all of the =
basic truths we have come to take for granted. Weathervane's goal is to =
reach the highest level of artistic achievement while providing a wide =
base for the community to gain experience in all facets of the arts. We =
are committed to providing engaging, innovative, high-quality theater =
education to students of every cultural heritage, age, ability, and =
level of interest. Our Education program strives to help students =
develop their voices, bodies, and imaginations using theater skills, =
which help them grow ~ both as artists and as people. We dedicate =
ourselves to the belief that young people should have the opportunity to =
participate in theater as both audience members and as artists. =
Weathervane's Youth Theatre creates this opportunity. In our classes, =
our productions, and our entire performing arts program we push students =
to "choose to be challenged."=20

Want to allow your students to stretch their creativity and improve =
their critical thinking skills? Let us teach your classes for a couple =
of days! To arrange for this wonderfully enriching program for your =
students and book your tickets, call Melanie YC Pepe, Director of =
Education at 330-836-2323 Ext. 17.
