First, thanks to everyone who contacted us regarding the Underground
Railroad program at Hale Farm & Village! Almost all of the roles have
been filled with the exception of the pivotal role of William Langston.=20

=20

William Langston is composite character, with his story-line being
factually based on the lives of several leaders in the African-American
community throughout the Western Reserve. This character illustrates the
vital role African-Americans played in the Underground Railroad, who
sacrificed much to bring their fellow man from bondage to freedom.=20

=20

Langston is a compassionate man with a fiery personality, and a
mesmerizing tone of voice. Having escaped slavery himself, he is an
outspoken opponent of the system. Apart from lecturing against the sins
of slavery, he also acts as a conductor on the Underground Railroad. He
gives council and assistance to the fugitives fortunate enough to pass
his way. Due to the specific nature of the script, William Langston can
be portrayed by an African-American man from age 30 to 60.=20
