WEATHERVANE YOUTH THEATRE

Registrations have already started!!
Offered at Weathervane Playhouse in Akron
Classes at Weathervane follow the Ohio Academic Content Standards for =
Theater. Same fun, more challenging games and exercises, ADDED arts =
content!  Youth Theatre Classes are taught by theatre professionals and =
educators, for children ages 4 to 18.  Classes are offered in =
performance, improvisation, musical theatre and technical theatre.  =
Classes take place one day a week, Saturdays OR Tuesdays, from February =
24TH to May 1ST , 2007. Registration has already started, so call today!

    For toddlers AND their parents! In the style of a mommy and me =
class, explore the basics of acting and self-expression. Using theatre =
games and creative thinking, children learn to "play" in a comfortable, =

Acting I: Through the Eyes of a Child

    For the beginning student to learn about the magic of theatre. The =

    Young performers will develop basic acting skills. The class will =

    In this class, students will explore creative movement through =
stories where animals rule the roost! Theatre games and exercises are =

Acting IV: Advanced Workshop: Classical Theatre

    Students will have the opportunity to work with play scripts from =
Greek drama to Shakespeare! Interpreting and performing these texts are =
the focus of this class, with theatre games designed to help students =

    This challenging class explores different acting techniques and =
styles. The class focus is on modern acting techniques and scripts.

    This fast paced drama class focuses on improvisational techniques. =

    This class will concentrate on developing the skill and artistry of =
singing, dancing and acting. The class is for the younger student who =

    This class is for students with previous musical theatre, dance =
and/or performance training. The class will focus on advanced =
performance techniques, and will study the history of musical theatre. =

    Characters in this class will range from the mildly unusual to the =
truly wacky! Students will create a character study, and from that a =
makeup design for the final presentation at the end of class. The =
results will amaze and entertain you!

Stage Management

    The how-to of running a show from behind the scenes. Students will =
learn the skills required of a stage manager to execute the "run" of a =
production. Interested students who have completed the class may have =
the opportunity to assistant stage manage a Weathervane production.
