CPT's Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) will perform selections
from original work
The Young Blood Hungers at City Hall

=20

=20

CPT presents the teens of the Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP)
performing selected scenes from their original work The Young Blood
Hungers live at City Hall, Monday, February 12th at 5:15pm. This
performance is presented as part of Mayor Frank G. Jackson's Our City,
Our Arts Initiative and Cleveland Annual Black History Month
Celebration. This unique performance will take place in the rotunda and
is free and open to the public.

=20

Based on the writings of Harlem Renaissance writer Marita Bonner, The
Young Blood Hungers tells the story of a group of restless youth from a
time not so long ago - their families, their dreams, their haunts and
their heart-wrenching reality - woven together with bold action, cool
rhythms and saucy a cappella music.=20

=20

The Young Blood Hungers is the culmination of a summer long process of
creation. Working in close collaboration with CPT Artist-Instructors,
inner-city teenagers developed every element of the play. Using
Bonner's writings as a starting point, Artist-Instructors and Education
Director Chris Seibert guided these extraordinary young people on a
journey of self-discovery and awareness through the dramatic arts.
During the intensive creation process, students receive top-notch
training in theatre arts and creative expression as well as valuable job
training skills such as timeliness, commitment and teamwork.

=20

The Young Blood Hungers traveled throughout the parks of Cleveland this
summer and the students of STEP are thrilled to bring their performance
to City Hall for this exciting free event.
