I am currently looking for an electric bass player and guitarist (electric,
acoustic, and 12 string) for an upcoming production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's
Song and Dance at the Beck Center in Lakewood. This is a very
non-traditional musical on many fronts.

Act I is performed by one woman (locally acclaimed Tracee Patterson) and
features a somewhat traditional musical score. Act II is entirely a dance
piece performed by the award winning Verb Ballet. The music for the second
act is a set of variations spanning multiple styles (classical, 70's rock,
light jazz, 50's rock, etc.) performed by a 12 piece orchestra with multiple
solos and features. Although originally written for Lloyd Webber's brother
Julian, a concert cellist, the piece solos each instrument during the second
act.

SPECIFICS:

When:

Tech Week - March 11-14 (three rehearsals prior)

Performances - March 15-April 7

Where:

Beck Center

Detroit Avenue

Lakewood, Ohio

What:

Guitarist must be an excellent reader of written out notes and have the
ability to improvise from charts. The guitar part features multiple finger
picked acoustical sections. He/she must have the confidence to be the
foundation of the orchestration during many moments. Often the guitar,
bass, and lead instrument (cello, flute, sax) are all that play. Need a
comfort level playing multiple styles. The piece calls for two guitars and
I am looking for the second.

Bassist must be an excellent reader and have the ability to improvise from
charts. There are multiple very fast passages that don't lie well on the
instrument. Need a comfort level with playing multiple styles. This is
quite a bit tougher and more interesting than most musical theater gigs.

How much:

Like all struggling arts organizations in town, the Beck Center pays a
modest stipend for its musicians.

If you are interested, please write me back ASAP and I will forward more
information (dates and times; music clips; and stipend amounts). At that
time we can arrange for a time for you to audition and see the music.

I look forward to hearing from you!
