Lake Erie College to present legacy triple organ recital

=20

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) - Lake Erie College will honor its history and =
legacy in organ music through the presentation of a recital by three =
organists with significant ties to the College. On March 18, at 4 p.m. =
in Morley Music Hall, James Darling, David Gooding and Daniel Hathaway =
will perform in a joint organ recital on the newly-restored Carol Morris =
E.M. Skinner Organ.

=20

Darling taught organ at LEC during the 1950s into the early 60s and =
performed on the Morley Skinner in a large number of College events and =
music programs each year of his tenure. Residing in Virginia, he is =
organist choir master emeritus of Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg. =
Darling will return to campus for the first time in more than forty =
years to perform works by Pachelbel, Vivaldi, Pelham, Litaize and Lenel.

=20

Gooding is a highly-respected, versatile artist, known throughout the =
region for his voice-training expertise, composing, musical direction, =
organ performances and work as a lyricist. Gooding taught organ at LEC =
and served as College organist throughout the 1960s and well into the =
70s, following the tenure of James Darling. He also served as organist =
for the Cleveland Orchestra under George Szell during that period. =
Gooding returns to campus to perform Festival Toccata by Percy Fletcher =
and other selections. =20

=20

Hathaway has been the director of music at Trinity Cathedral in =
Cleveland since 1977 and currently holds the titles of canon for music, =
art and worship, and artistic director of music and performing arts at =
Trinity Cathedral. He has performed organ recitals throughout North =
America and Europe and made his conducting debut in South America at the =
Teatro Col=F3n in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2004. Hathaway will =
perform the substantial three-movement work, Symphonic Chorale, op. 87, =
no.2, by Sigfrid Karg-Elert.

=20

This concert is free and open to the public. No reservations are =
required. For more information, please contact Paul Gothard, professor =
