News Release

 Due to a medical emergency which required surgery for the spouse of  the=20
leading lady on Friday, March 2, David Van Gaasbeek, Director of the Canal =20
Fulton Players, decided to postpone the opening of Born Yesterday by Garson=20=
 Kanin=20
for one week.  =E2=80=9CIt was a difficult decision but here was no doubt  t=
hat Sandra=20
needed to be with her husband,=E2=80=9D said Mr. Van Gaasbeek.  =E2=80=9CA p=
lay  you can=20
reschedule and we have done that.=E2=80=9D
=20
 Thus, the play will open on Friday night, March 9, at 7:30 pm and  continue=
=20
throughout the weekend.  =E2=80=9CSaturday night will be a dinner theatre  f=
ormat. =20
Dinner will be served at 6:00 o=E2=80=99clock.  The performance will  be at=20=
7:30 pm,=E2=80=9D=20
said Mr. Van Gaasbeek.  Sunday=E2=80=99s performance will at 7:30  pm.

 On the following dates, Born Yesterday will be presented in the  normal=20
format at 7:30 pm:

 March 16, March 18, March 24, and March 25.

 =E2=80=9CThere was no empty weekend after this one.  So we have to get  ima=
ginative=20
and schedule when there is an open date.  Fortunately, we found  two nights=20
per weekend for the following two weekends,=E2=80=9D said Mr. Van  Gaasbeek.

 Assuming the role of Billie Dawn until Sandra Schmeltzer can get back  will=
=20
be Megan Huber who was originally cast as Mrs. Hedges.  Jessica Gray  will=20
play Mrs. Hedges while Megan regales us as Billie.  In another note,  Christ=
ina=20
Roper will be the Hotel Manager on Friday, March 9, due to Erica  Mewhinney=20
being out of town at a school event.

 =E2=80=9CWe were one rehearsal away from peaking when Sandra called with a=20=
 news,=E2=80=9D=20
said Mr. Van Gaasbeek, who will be playing Harry Brock.  =E2=80=9CI did not=20=
 feel bad=20
for us.  I felt bad for Sandra and her husband.  One thing  that came out of=
=20
this crisis is the formation of a improvisational troupe since  the rest of=20=
the=20
cast entertained those people who came last weekend not knowing  of the=20
surgery and postponement.  Those kids really acted their hearts  out.=E2=80=
=9D
