"SISTERS IN LAW"
Friday, March 16 - 8:00pm

2005 (not rated) 104 min.
Cameroon/UK subtitles/Pidgin English
Director: Kim Longinotto
Cast: Vera Ngassa, Beatrice Ntuba

Winner of the Prix Art et Essai at the Cannes Film Festival and screened
to acclaim at more than 90 festivals around the world, SISTERS IN LAW is
the latest documentary from internationally renowned director Kim
Longinotto, co-directed by Florence Ayisi. This uplifting and inspiring
film has been a crowd-pleaser wherever it has played. The movie profiles
two real-life African professional women - a prosecutor and a judge -
who fight patriarchy and injustice one case at a time in a Cameroon
courthouse. Constitutional law has proved to be a great ally in the
ongoing fight against rape, domestic violence, and spousal abuse. This
dynamic duo is captured in action, dispensing wisdom and wisecracks
while trying to instill feminist values in a male-dominated Muslim
society.

"Positively soars...Who are these women, and can they please take over
the world soon?" - Nathan Lee, NEW YORK TIMES

"The Fairy Forest"
Sunday, March 18, 2007 - 3:00pm

Ohio Dance Theatre's Ballet for Children Series

Pixi and her fairy friends live in an enchanted glen hidden deep in the
forest. That's where they create the magic which grants dreams and
wishes to good little girls around the world. When Crabbina, a dark
fairy, is kicked out of her prickerbush, she creates havoc in "The Fairy
Forest." Ohio Dance Theatre has created this very special, magical,
original, heart-warming and humorous ballet for the child in everyone!

P.R. Miller: "Waste Naught" -
the work of a "Junk Yard Artist" and recycler
in the Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery
Friday, February 23rd through Friday, March 23rd, 2007

A self - described "Junk Yard Artist" and the "Chihuly of Trash,"
consummate recycler and artist P.R. Miller transforms industrial
discards into colorfully painted and embellished sculpture, furniture
and lighting. This exhibition includes animals, bugs, tables and lit
lamps and sculptures ---- colorful, whimsical portrayals of a
fantastical world that are designed to spark curiosity in the viewer and
lead to an expanded understanding of the consequences of the world's
consumer waste.

P.R. Miller holds a B.S. in Art Education from the University of Akron,
and has studied public art in Oslo, Norway, and Mexico. He has
exhibited his work in a solo exhibit at the Massillon Museum, Ohio,
throughout Akron/Canton and in Cleveland, including at the 2005, 2006
and 2007 Ingenuity Festivals, and is currently transforming an
industrial landfill adjacent to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park into a
sculpture park. He has dedicated his art and his life to creating
awareness about environmental and waste issues.

This exhibition is part of the Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery season
program, "Making a Difference - The Artist's Work," a season of art
exhibitions that reflect a diversity of artistic journeys and their
impact on our lives and communities.
