Beck Center for the Arts

and Gallery 324

showcase five artists

through April 9, 2007

=20

Lakewood, Ohio -- The Beck Center for the Arts is proud to showcase five
exhibiting artists from Marcus Bales' Gallery 324, now on display
through April 9, 2007 in the Creative Arts building at the Beck Center.

The exhibit includes the works of Jean Balbin, George Kocar, Denise
Telep, Storm Thorgerson, and Adrienne Younger (artists bios below).

Gallery 324 is designed to cross-promote the arts scene in Cleveland and
bring together a wide variety of primarily local artists by holding
events and shows that present these artists to one another's differing
audiences.=20

The exhibit is on display in the Beck Center's Creative Arts building at
the front of the Beck Center campus. It is free and open to the public
Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through April 9,
2007. The Beck Center is located just ten minutes west of downtown
Cleveland at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood. For more information
call (216) 521-2540.

###

Artists Bios

=20

Jean Balbin's works as a legal secretary in a Cleveland law firm. As an
artist, her work is vividly representational and genuinely interpretive
at the same time. Her entries in this exhibit, "Vast Horizons,"
"Country Lane," "Storm Rising," "Lively Floral," "River of Fire," and
"Ending Storm" exemplify some of her best landscape work.

=20

George Kocar is retired from American Greetings. His work is pointedly
satirical softened by an obvious love for his subjects. George is
President of the Northern Ohio Illustrator's Society, and his work is
widely shown in the region, and seen in national magazines and
newspapers as illustrations. His pieces in this show, "Railbirds,"
"Three from Oz," and "Monet Reflection" are excellent examples of his
mature style.

=20

Denise Telep is Associate Director of Come Create Cleveland, she also
teaches lessons and presents events around Cleveland. Her work is deftly
evocative of everyday life without being in any way mundane. Her "Woman
With Water" piece in this show demonstrates her sure touch.

=20

Storm Thorgerson is an artist in London, England world-famous for the
images he's designed as album covers for such groups as Pink Floyd, Led
Zeppelin, 10cc, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, The Cranberries, and, most
recently, Muse. His work seems classically iconic after 40 years of
creating classic rock and roll icons. The two signed posters in this
show illustrate his sense of humor on the one hand, in "Smell the
Music," and his sense of history, with the cover from Pink Floyd's
"Echoes" greatest hits album, on the other.

=20

Adrienne Younger is a Cleveland artist whose work is widely shown. She
captures moments both serious and whimsical with elegance and panache.
Her "Woman with Beads" in this show is a good example of the economy of
line and delicacy of detail characteristic of her style.
