Greetings folks,

thee hetmana here. What in the world has the girl been up to? Arranging a national veterans service org. convention ... oh my! ... and delegating my butt off ... perhaps a little too much

It's going to be at the Wyndham Playhouse Square

POINT ONE : The Military Ball -- the American Veterans for Equal Rights Military Ball is going to be on Saturday -- 21 April 2007.

We have a small live band that will be playing the "Armed Forces Salute", national anthem, etc. etc.

 What I need...

I need a DJ who can cater to the WWII genre and hopefully somewhat dress the part.

We were hoping to have a full box band, but several musicians had conflicts here and there, so part of the "live big band" schedule has been panned.

Dinner music needs to be about 90 minutes, can be canned, nice quiet Glenn Miller kind of stuff -- good for playing over "house sound" -- need this played at "sub-conversation" volume since our veterans range from 19-94 -- really.

After dinner -- definitely need own PA -- need some fairly lively boogie woogie with two/max-three "slow dances". Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Andrews Sisters, etc. etc. -- if you know the period, I hope you get the idea -- think USO!

What we can provide for you: a free valet parking pass ($22 otherwise) with come/go privileges, plus dinner (need to know prime rib / walleye), and props -- including in the quarterly national journal that comes out immediately after the convention.

 ----------------------------------

POINT TWO : we will be showing two movies on Friday 20 April, starting at 7p30 : one short and one feature, with live on-site post-screening Q&A by both filmmakers (because we're special like that).

If somebody can volunteer up a board, PA and projector for this, please let us know -- it will save us a tremendous amount on AV rental. Dinner's on us, plus free valet parking as listed above.

Anyone willing to hang out with their gear would be greatly appreciated. While I am plenty paranoid enough to surgically attach myself to [gear that belongs to other people] -- I'm the on-site coordinator for the entire event.

Outside of the daytime presentations which are classroom style and allow me to play gear vulture, for the evening events -- I am a little worried that I might be called "for just a minute" here or there -- and like I said -- I'm just too dang paranoid about gear that doesn't belong to me to walk away from it.
