Lakewood, Ohio -Beck Center for the Arts' Youth Theater presents Honk! A
Musical Tale of the Ugly Duckling on the Mackey Main Stage from May 4
through May 13, 2007.

Directed by Kevin Joseph Kelly, Honk! is the story of Ugly,
a duckling whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his
family and neighbors. Separated from the farm, Ugly must find his way
home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey he not only discovers
his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance
in all its forms. "I am thrilled to be directing Honk! and working with
the incredible kids at Beck," says Kelly. "This show is very
challenging musically and the cast is handling the task like pros. I
can't wait to share the joy of the performance with families
everywhere."

Kevin Joseph Kelly has taught at the Beck Center for the
Arts, Cassidy Theatre and The Cleveland Play House. As a director,
Kevin has directed at several area theaters including the Beck Center
for the Arts, Weathervane Playhouse, Cassidy Theatre, Clague Playhouse,
and Rocky River Community Theater. In addition, he has spent the last
several years at The Cleveland Play House performing in the Children's
Theatre Series and their Club Cabaret Series.

Cast members for Honk! are students from the Beck Center's Theater
Education program. They have participated in the Fundamentals of
Theater class and other "core" theater classes for children available at
the Beck Center for the Arts. In both fundamentals and core classes,
students explore basic acting skills through improvisation and theater
games, as well as develop singing and acting techniques, and study
method acting. In addition, they have had introduction to theater
appreciation and basic theater terminology.

The Beck Center's production of Honk! A Musical Tale of the Ugly
Duckling is sponsored by Cox Communications, Westfield Great Northern,
Music Is Elementary, and Lakewoodbuzz.com. Programming at the Beck
Center is made possible through the generous support of The Cleveland
Foundation, the George Gund Foundation, the John P. Murphy Foundation,
the Kulas Foundation, the Eva L. & Joseph M. Bruening Foundation, the
Abington Foundation, and the Thomas H. White Foundation, and the Ohio
Arts Council.

Honk! runs May 4 through May 13 on the Mackey Main Stage. Show times
are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m. and
Sunday, May 13 at 3:00 p.m. A special matinee has been scheduled for
10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for
