CASSIDY THEATRE PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
=E2=80=9CBaby=E2=80=9D Director Uses Own Life Experience to Direct Expectan=
t Musical at Cassidy
Parma Heights, Ohio =E2=80=93 Northeast Ohio theatre audiences are used to =
seeing area Performer/Director Trinidad Snider shine in the spotlight. As =
one of the brightest actor/singers of the Northeast Ohio theatre scene, she=
has delighted theatre-goers in dozens of productions. Over the last few =
years she has also added Directing credits to her impressive resume. But S=
nider=E2=80=99s most important starring role has always been that of Mom to=
daughter Kirstin, 7 and sons Colin, 2 and Dylan, born just last December. =
In large part, it was this handful of a supporting cast =E2=80=93 especial=
ly her last pregnancy =E2=80=93 that served as the inspiration for her visi=
on of Directing the musical Baby, which opens on the Cassidy Theatre stage =
April 20th. =20
BABY tells the story of three couples expecting a baby and their varied but=
familiar reactions to their pregnancies. =E2=80=9CAnyone can relate to th=
is show whether they have children or not=E2=80=9D says Snider. =E2=80=9CW=
e all know someone who has gone through those nine months of incredible cha=
nges. Having just recently been through pregnancy myself, I wanted to shar=
e some of the incredible feelings and experiences that come with having a b=
aby. Obviously this is the perfect musical to do that because it tells the=
se stories with heart and humor. It will appeal to every person out there.=
=E2=80=9D Part of that appeal comes from Snider=E2=80=99s direction of the=
show that comes from a unique sensibility of being a mother herself. In f=
act, her new son, 5-month old Dylan will actually make his own stage debut =
in this production as one of the happy couple=E2=80=99s new arrivals.
With a book by Sybille Pearson, music by David Shire and lyrics by Richard =
Maltby, Jr., BABY focuses on Liz and Danny, students who have just moved i=
n together, athletic Pam and her husband, Nick, a sports instructor, who h=
ave had some trouble conceiving and Arlene, already the mother of three gro=
wn daughters, who is unsure of what to do, and her husband Alan who is thri=
lled with the thought of a new baby. Throughout the show, these characters =
experience the emotional stresses and triumphs, the desperate lows and the =
comic highs, that accompany the anticipation and arrival of a baby. Cassid=
y's BABY stars=20
Jared Sampson, Lara Mainier, Bob Stoesser, Alicia Fogal, Tom Castro, Julian=
ne Kurdila with Jacob Shafer, Georgia Muttillo, Jason Uzl, Sara E. Tackett,=
Mark Baldarelli, Caitlin Lewins, Mara Prucha and Joshua Peterson. Musical=
Direction is by Brad Wyner.
BABY runs at the Cassidy Theatre April 20th through May 6th. Friday and Sa=
turday shows are at 8p and Sunday matinees are at 3pm. Tickets are availab=
le by calling the Cassidy box office at (440) 842-4600. Tickets are $20 fo=
r adults and $15 for students and senior citizens. MasterCard and Visa ar=
e accepted. Cassidy Theatre is located in the Greenbrier Commons, 6200 Pea=
rl Rd., Parma Heights.
