Beck Center for the Arts

presents

FROZEN

June 1-24, 2007

Studio Theater

=20

Lakewood, Ohio - Beck Center for the Arts presents Frozen, the gripping
psychological drama by British playwright, Bryony Lavery, in the
intimate Studio Theater, June 1-24, 2007. This chilling play was
nominated for four Tony Awards in 2004 and contains subject matter that
many may find disturbing.=20

Inspired by several famous child-murder cases in the English Midlands,
Frozen is a powerful piece about the abduction and murder of a
ten-year-old girl. Through this tragic event, the lives of three
strangers - a remorseless convicted child-killer, the mother of one of
his victims and a researcher who studies serial killers - become
interconnected. Each of them suffers from the inability to cope with
their emotions and have become psychologically "frozen." As the story
develops, they struggle with their emotional paralysis and seek
understanding and forgiveness. =20

The Beck Center's production of this dark drama is directed by
award-winning director, Sarah May. "I am thrilled to be directing
another exciting and timely play at the Beck Center" said May. "This
production, with its amazing cast will be a totally riveting theatrical
experience." The cast of Frozen features Jason Markouc* as the child
killer, Derdriu Ring* as the victim's mother and Liz Conway as the
researcher. "Frozen asks so many powerful questions," remarked May,
"How do you go on with your life after a shocking tragedy? How do you
find the ability to forgive? Audiences will be discussing this
thought-provoking play long after the final bows."

To facilitate this discussion, the Beck Center will host a series of
post-show "talk-backs" to discuss the controversial issues surrounding
this compelling play. A panel of area experts on topics such as capital
punishment, pathological behavior, criminal justice, and forgiveness
will lead the discussions. Show patrons are invited to participate in
these sessions immediately following certain performances. For more
information on "talk-back" dates and times, contact the Beck Center Box
Office at (216) 521-2540. =20

This production of Frozen is sponsored by Cox Communications, WCPN 90.3
FM ideastream, LakewoodBuzz.com, and the FreeTimes. Show times are
Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. To reserve
tickets, call the Beck Center Box Office at (216) 521-2540 or online at
www.beckcenter.org <http://www.beckcenter.org/> . Ticket prices are $28
for adults, $25 for seniors and $17 for students (22 and under with
I.D.) and include a $2 administrative fee. Group discounts are
available for parties of 12 or more. Rush tickets for students (22 and
under with I.D.) are offered for $10 on Sundays only, 30 minutes prior
to curtain, based on availability. Convenient on-site parking is
available. Beck Center for the Arts is located just ten minutes west of
downtown Cleveland at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood.=20
