We will never control the actions or words of others.
What we can do is control our reaction to it and not
give these people anymore attention than they deserve
for their ridiculous humor. Most of us on here are
artists and entertainers, we should be the ambassadors
for free speech and expression regardless of it how
much it offends us. We should remember the principles
and ideals behind what the entertainers are doing.
American soldiers went over to Iraq to overthrow a
dictator who would have killed or tortured a person
who spoke a word he didnt agree with. Have those men
and women died to protect Iraqi freedoms only to come
home and find Americans freedoms taken away? We have
no privacy, no safety in our schools. We are losing
the freedoms we are trying to protect and enforce
around the world. Free speech was not intended to make
everyone happy and it often offends. I'm sure the King
of England wasnt very happy with what he heard the
colonists talking about. But thats what America is
about. There are hundreds of movies and songs and
plays and books that are demeaning and stereotypical
of all races and lifestyles. Thats what happens when
you have free speech. You hear wonderful things,
inspirational things and quite frankly you hear things
you never wanted to and certainly dont agree with.
You dont like it, dont listen to it. dont read it.
but dont rally to take away the right for people to
say what they want. What is happening to this country?
People get charged with terrorism for hanging up
cartoon posters... radio hosts get fired for saying
things twice as nice as what most lyrics are saying
nowadays.. where does it stop? I didnt like. I wont
listen to it. But I respect their right to do it.
People have died for their right to do it.
