[NEohioPAL]Broadway Performer comes to Westlake

Alonzo Saunders, a Broadway Entertainer,Singer and
Dancer is coming to the Westlake Schools Performing
Arts Center on May 19.  Alonzo has co-starred  in
CHICAGO with BeBe Neuwirth, Ann Reinking, and many
other Tv and Film stars . He made his Broadway debut
in the 1995 Tony award winning musical revival of
SHOWBOAT directed by Harold Prince and choreographed
by Susan Stroman. He recently starred as Sammy Davis
Jr. in THE RAT PACK LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS at The Savoy
theater in London's West End, as well as touring with
the show and a 16 piece Orchestra throughout
Europe,Norway , Sweden ,Finland, and Portugal.  Alonzo
has toured throughout the United States, Canada
,Mexico,and as far away as Tokyo in productions of
CHICAGO, RAGTIME, SHOWBOAT, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES,OLIVER,
and A CHORUS LINE. He is a trained classical singer
and has done recital work as a counter-tenor in
Atlanta, where he grew up, having performed with
Robert Shaw  and The Atlanta Boy's Choir with the
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Versatile, he
has also done lead vocals in a Pop/R&B band in
Atlanta. Alonzo has performed the National Anthem at
games for the Hawks and Falcons as well as singing for
many of Atlanta's past mayors, govenors, and other
dignateries of Georgia.He trained at a performing arts
high school in Atlanta and later attended The American
Musical and Dramatics Academy in New York. He
continues to audition for Broadway, Film and TV and is
currently working on his own cabaret and forthcoming
CD.
 
Alonzo will be performing in  "Broadway Bound – A
Benefit for Relay for Life" presented Saturday, May 19
at 7:30 pm at the Westlake Schools Performing Arts
Center.

 Westlake High School students, along with performers
from Olmsted Falls, Magnificat and St. Edward High
Schools will participate in this cabaret performance. 

 All tickets will be sold at the door the night of the
performance.  Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for
students.  Proceeds from the event will be donated to
Relay for Life in honor of Emily Lewis and Ryan
Waldheger.
