Community Arts and Music Program Summer Classes Begin June 11

 Voice Class         Ages 8-15       June 11-July 30          Mondays,
6:00-7:00 pm         West Campus    $190

This class will emphasize skill development, the basic principles of
breath control and vocal techniques.  Students will be exposed to all
styles of vocal music and have an opportunity to express their singing
abilities in a group setting.  This innovative way of instruction gives
students a creative chance to increase their master in the area of
voice.  Students will also showcase their accomplishments during the
final class of the session.

Creative Dramatics         Grades 3-7      June 16-August 4       Sat.
10:00-11:00 am   West Campus      $190

Using drama activities students will explore their active imaginations
by bringing classics to life.  The day's activities are broken into a
diverse and rich performing arts curriculum where singing, creative
movement and dance, acting, mime, improvisation and arts and crafts are
included in every session.  Some face painting and dress up are included
in our weekly curriculum.  Each session may culminate in a final
presentation.

West African Dance        Ages 8-Adult    June 13-Aug 8          Wed

Learn the dances of Guinea and Mali in this exciting class designed for
students of all abilities.  West African dance and song will be taught
by a knowledgeable, supportive instructor who believes in the African
proverb: "if you can walk, you can dance!"

Summer With the Jazz Masters Ages 12-18     June 25-July 20   M,W,F
9:00-4:00  Metro  Campus   $350

Recognized internationally for the caliber of its jazz education
programs; Includes ensemble practice, theory and improvisation.
Opportunity to perform in both small group and large ensembles, superb
faculty, and opportunity to work with guest artists.  Past artists have
included Wynton Marsalis, John and Jeff Clayton, James Moody, Bobby
Watson, Danilo Perez, Scott Hamilton, Bucky Pizzarelli, Louis Bellson,
Marcus Bellgrave, David "fathead" Newman, Russell Malone, and Winard
Harper.

This camp provides students of violin, viola, cello and bass an
opportunity to not only polish their instrumental skills but to create
their own music as well.  The camp combines String Ensemble classes with
a Language Arts class in which the students learn journaling,
storytelling, and poetry.  The student then selects one of their poems
or stories, and a team of fellow students work together to create a
performance piece with original works and original music.  Students
succeed, sometimes astonishingly, in expressing themselves while at the
same time perfecting their skills of music and language.

Recording Arts and Technology     Grades 11-12          Mon-Fri
9:00-noon     Metro Campus     $350

In this class you will write, record, produce and distribute your own
music CD, using professional mixers, microphones and software.  You will
also learn the tricks of the trade to become a great producer and create
your own slammin' tracks.  When those tracks are done, you'll learn how
to manufacture market and sell your CD.  In just a few short weeks, you
can gains skills necessary to get your music noticed!
