       The V-Day Festival is off to   an exciting start!
     Here are upcoming   events through the weekend.  Be sure   to attend!

    and support a local   organization that works to end violence against women and   girls!

       FRIDAY June 22, Any One of Us: Words from Prison, 7:30 p.m.   curtain

       A   Marquee Event!   
       Tickets are $15 pre-sale, $20 at the door (based on availability).   Tickets available through website. 
       Directed by Jacqi Loewy
       95% of women in prison are there because they have experienced violence   in their own lives. Words From Prison will reveal the connection between women   in prison and the violence that often brought them there. This event will bring   forth voices of humor, fierceness and honesty written by women from prisons   across the nation to then move forward toward healing, understanding, and   change, ultimately impacting laws and the treatment of incarcerated   women.

       Attention local poets and spoken word artists! Express your sorrow,   outrage and frustration about violence towards women in our society.  Speak words of love, respect and healing   to our mothers, sisters and daughters. 
       Event features local hiphop and spoken word artist, Ace Boogie.  Ace has produced six albums through   SchoolHouse Productions and Amplified Recordings that set the standard for a hip   hop culture that defies trends of gross objectification.

        â€œKeeping the hits on the diamondâ€.     Through its â€œPitching for Family   Peaceâ€ program, The Akron Racers supports agencies working to stop violence in   families.    
       Come and see a great fast pitch softball game and join the V-Day picnic   after the game.  Meet the   players!  Picnic dinners will be   available for purchase.  Tickets to   the game are $7 and can be bought that day or prior to the game at the stadium   box office.  For more information on   the team visit www.akronracer.org.

       Sunday, June 24, Fly Free from Violence
         Cleveland,   OH

       Forbes House of Lake County,  the Womenâ€™s Center at   Lakeland   Community College and WomenSafe of Geauga   county are collaborating on this community effort.  Participants will gather at one of three   locations and help make and decorate a kite. The designs will reflect personal   feelings and/or experiences on violence against women (similar to what we do for   the Clothesline Project).        V-Day:   Until the Violence Stops Northeast   Ohio is produced through a collaboration of   Queen Bee Productions of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Womenâ€™s Networkâ€™s Women   Central Project. Producing partners also include the Cleveland Indians; Northern    Ohio Live   magazine; Donna Rizor-Longfellow, UBS Financial and epitome magazine. Until the   Violence Stops Northeast   Ohio is also a recipient of a $10,000 grant   from the Akron Community Foundation.
