TO THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY ARTS COMMUNITY,

IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE EDITOR'S PAGE IN TODAY'S PD CONCERNING THE
NEW TAX, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT. DON'T FORGET THAT WE ARE ABOUT TO
DIP INTO THE ISSUE 18(CUYAHOGA ARTS & CULTURE) MONIES, WHICH WERE PASSED LAST YEAR. NOW THESE COMMISSIONERS WILL AGAIN RAISE ANOTHER
  0.25 PERCENT SALES TAX.

I CANNOT LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH WHEN IT COMES TO ISSUE 18, AND
FOR THESE FUNDS, THE CUYAHOGA ARTS COMMUNITY SHOULD BREATH A BIG
SIGH OF RELIEF. BUT IT IS MAKING THE STRAW THAT BREAKS THE CAMEL'S BACK
TO OUTRAGE WAGE-EARNERS AGAIN, IN THE POOREST CITY IN THE NATION, TO
RAISE THE SALES TAX, ALREADY THE HIGHEST IN THE STATE.

WHAT IS TO BE DONE? A PETITION TO RAISE THE 46,000 SIGNATURES REQUIRED TO
PUT THE TAX ISSUE TO A VOTE. OTHERWISE THE COMMISSIONERS CAN RAISE THE
TAX WITHOUT VOTER APPROVAL.. TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS ONLY WILL BE HELD
ON THIS ISSUE, JULY 19 AND 26. THE TAX GOES IINTO EFFECT ON OCTOBER 1ST.

I AM ASSUMING THAT, AS RECIPIENTS OF THE ISSUE 18 FUNDS, CUYAHOGA COUNTY ARTS GROUPS ARE GRATEFUL, AND WILL ASSIST IN EASING THE ALREADY HEAVY TAX BURDEN ON THIS COUNTY BY DEFEATING THIS TAX ISSUE.

ARE THERE ANY COURAGEOUS FOLKS READING THIS READY TO START THIS
PETITION, WHICH MUST BE COMPLETED IN JUST OVER ONE MONTH???

PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR OPINION ON THIS TAX ISSUE ASAP.
