at the Beck Center for the Arts

Lakewood, Ohio - Two notable artists currently have their works on
display in the art galleries at the Beck Center for the Arts. In
cooperation with Tregoning & Company, the Beck Center presents Recent
Paintings & Works on Paper by French artist, Alain Pontecorvo in the
Jean Bulicek Galleria now through August 12, 2007. In the Music-Armory
Building, Drawings & Paintings by Alane Potokar Sandoval are on exhibit
now through October 28, 2007. Both exhibits are free and open to the
public. For individual gallery hours, contact the Beck Center at (216)

This is the first exhibition of Pontecorvo's work in the United States.
He is among the top figurative artists working in France today. A
traditional painter, his style is based on the Dutch and Italian
masters. This exhibit includes paintings and drawings featuring
Pontecorvo's vibrant use of color and compositional placement of forms
and figures. His work has been displayed internationally in public and
private collections in the United States, France, Germany, Belgium,
Italy, and many other countries. A reception will be held on Friday,
July 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Daniels Lounge. The public is
invited to attend.
Alane Potokar Sandoval is a local artist whose professional career has
involved the film and multi-media industries. A graduate of Kent State
University, she has worked professionally in Chicago and New York. As
an artist, she works primarily with drawing and painting a diversity of
subject matter including cats, musicians, dancers, as well as
abstractions. Sandoval has studied theater design and continues to
develop her landscape and life drawing skills. She has exhibited
locally and recently was the featured artist at Fat Cats for the Tremont
Art Walk.=20
The Beck Center for the Arts is a comprehensive arts organization
offering professional theater productions on two stages; arts education
in dance, music, theater, and visual arts; and gallery exhibits
featuring primarily local and regional artists. Located at 17801
