Arts in the Cathedral (Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Hts.) will be
presenting Gian Carlo Menotti's chamber opera Amahl and the Night
Visitors  on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 4:00 p.m. =20

This 45 minute opera tells the touching story of a lame shepherd boy who
lives in poverty with his widowed mother.  In the middle of the night a
knock at the door announces a visit from the three Kings following the
star in search of the Christ Child. Flustered, the mother sends Amahl to
ask their neighbors to bring gifts and to dance for the Kings. An act of
selflessness changes the lives of Amahl and his mother forever.

AUDITIONS FOR THE ROLE OF AMAHL (the boy) will be held BY APPOINTMENT on
Saturday July 28 and Thursday August 2nd.=20

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Audition Requirements: A boy soprano who looks approximately 10-12 years
old

(No girls will be auditioned for this role.) =20

1) One song of your choice, memorized in English (An accompanist will be
provided, please bring music.)

2) Callbacks will be asked to learn a short selection from the opera
