 WE are auditioning boys ages 10-13 who can sing and act for the title =
role in AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS

If you know of a boy 10-13 years old who can sing and act, please =
encourage him to audition. This 45 minute chamber opera by Menotti is =
sung in English and will be presented Dec. 7 and 8, 2008 in Cleveland =
Hts. (more information below)

We are looking for a boy with a sweet, strong soprano voice who can =
learn music easily and has a good sense of pitch.  Some acting =
experience is helpful but not required if the boy has good instincts.

AUDITIONS:
First round of auditions simply requires a memorized song of your choice =
in English.
(Sorry, no girls will be auditioned for this role.)

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
            Arts in the Cathedral (Church of the Saviour in Cleveland =
Hts.) will be presenting Gian Carlo Menotti's chamber opera Amahl and =
the Night Visitors  on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 4:00 p.m. =20
        This 45 minute opera tells the touching story of a lame shepherd =
boy who lives in poverty with his widowed mother.  In the middle of the =
night a knock at the door announces a visit from the three Kings =
following the star in search of the Christ Child. Flustered, the mother =
sends Amahl to ask their neighbors to bring gifts and to dance for the =
Kings. An act of selflessness changes the lives of Amahl and his mother =
forever.
