The Magic Fire =20

This story is about the Berg-Guarneri family of immigrants in the Buenos=20
Aires of the 1950s. Otto Berg, a refugee from Nazi Austria and his family fi=
nd=20
themselves trapped in the fascist system of Juan Per=C3=B3n's regime, taking=
 refuge in=20
books, music, theatre, and the arts. Their neighbor, Henri Fontannes, a=20
high-ranking officer in the Peronist army, is most likely involved in secret=
 police=20
activity in which enemies of the regime are known to "disappear." The realit=
y=20
of the political situation enters the Bergs' apartment (their maid's brother=
=20
is in hiding there) and they are forced to confront their choices =E2=80=93=20=
morals and=20
politics in place of art, and Fontannes is the only man who can help
