Hope to consider joining us!!! The French Creek Nature Center is located on the south side of Route 611 (9530 Colorado Ave.) in Sheffield Village, about 1.2 miles west of Abbe Road, or 2.5 miles west of the I-90 / 611 interchange.

TrueNorth Chorale & Symphony Begin Rehearsals at French Creek Nature Center

The TrueNorth Chorale is a choir of select voices singing from the serious choral repertoire, usually accompanied by the TrueNorth Symphony. Membership is by audition with Director Rick Fortney. Major works performed in the past have included the Mozart Requiem, Poulenc Gloria, Handel's Messiah, and many more. The Chorale rehearses on Sunday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 at French Creek beginning September 16, with four concerts scheduled for 2007-2008.

The TrueNorth Symphony is a volunteer orchestra dedicated to playing the great symphonic masters and to accompanying the TrueNorth choral groups in their concerts. Membership is by audition with Director Jim Traxler and is limited to instrumentalists at the advanced or intermediate levels. In addition to the choral concerts, the Symphony performs at a symphonic-only concert in February, often with a guest artist from the Cleveland Orchestra. In past years, the repertoire has included the Bach Double Violin Concerto, the Mozart Violin Concerto # 5, Tchaikowsky 1812 Overture, Debussy Afternoon of a Faun, and many others. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 at French Creek beginning September 24.

The TrueNorth Community Chorus is open to all singers, no audition required. The only requirement is a love of singing. The chorus is designed to provide a fun learning experience while singing a wide variety of choral literature, from pops to Broadway to serious works of music, sometimes in conjunction with the Chorale. The Community Chorus meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 at French Creek beginning September 18th, with three concerts scheduled for 2007-2008.

There are other musical opportunities for children and youth, as well as beginning adult instrumentalists. The TrueNorth Junior Symphony is an intergenerational instrumental group which rehearses on Mondays from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. While most of the members are youth, we have always had adult members as well, with aspirations to join the TrueNorth Symphony when ready. In addition, Children's Choirs will also be available during the coming program year. K - Second grade, and Third - Fourth grades meeting on Wednesday afternoons, and the Fifth - Sixth grade choir meeting on Thursday afternoon.
