Subject: Helping Corlette Baylock (The Nut Man)
The story about Corlette Baylock (The Nut Man) ...
Local artist Corlette Thomas Baylock suffered the largest tragedy an
artist can endure. I think all of us know him, or we have at least
heard of him, because he has been such a vital part of the Cleveland
art scene for so many years. Those of you who are not sure who Corlette
is, he is the artist who uses pistachio nuts as faces in his artwork
(www.artonthehalfshell.com). On September 7, 2007 Corlette was on his
way to a show in Indianapolis and, while driving down the road, his van
caught fire. Before he knew it, the van was engulfed in flames and
everything inside the van was destroyed. All of his artwork was gone!
Thank goodness he was able to escape and suffered only minor injuries,
but his art career is now on hold. (A picture of his burned out van is
attached at the bottom of this e-mail).
As promised, here are several ways you can help Corlette Baylock (aka
The Nut Man) get back on his feet. Please feel free to forward this
message to anyone who might be interested.
Local artists Lisa Nemeth and Deby Cowdin would like to invite you to
help our friend.
They will host An Evening with Corlette Thomas Baylock
When: Friday October 26, 2007
Time: 5:30 to 9:00 PM
Where: The Galleria, East 9th and St. Clair, Cleveland, Ohio

to raise additional money. Please join them in helping Corlette rebuild
his life.
