Victorious on Friday,

October 19th in the Jelliffe theatre.

Newly ordained preacher, Purlie Victorious Judson, returns to his family's
sharecropper cabin to reacquire the local church and to ring the "Freedom
Bell." An inheritance from a cousin will supply the needed cash but,
unfortunately, is controlled by Ol' Cap'n Cotchipee, who owns the land that
Purlie's family works. Purlie attempts to trick the captain out of the
inheritance, and naturally, complications ensue which provide for a
surprising and hysterical comedy.

The late actor, playwright, Ossie Davis claimed Purlie Victorious' objective
was "intended to point a mocking finger at racial segregation and laugh it
out of existence." Come to Karamu and hear Purlie's talented cast deliver
the comical punch lines. The Cleveland cast, consisting of Neal Hodges as
Rev. Purlie Victorious Judson; Katrice Monee Headd as Miss Lutiebelle
Jenkins, the young girl who has captured Purlie's heart; Ol' Cap'n Cothcipee
portrayed by John Lynch; Dan McGinnis as the forward thinking Charlie
Cotchipee; Doug Pratt as Gitlow Judson, the faithful servant; Ann Hudson the
all knowing, Missy Judson; Stephanie Stovall as the quick talking Idella
Landry; Alan Branstein as the Sheriff, and Ralph W. Pack as the Deputy make
this show an enjoyable night out. Call and book your tickets now!
