In between all the famous folk acts appearing at the Kent Stage -- after David Wilcox and before the Kent State Folk Festival -- is my show, called "Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound: A 1967 Coffeehouse Concert."

This is a celebration of the original singer-songwriter movement of the late 1960s. During that era, you could go to any folk club in the U.S. and hear everyone singing the same songs -- the songs of Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Gordon Lightfoot, Eric Andersen, Tim Hardin, Tim Buckley, Joni Mitchell and others (unless, of course, you went to hear one of them).

But then, after about 1969, you almost completely stopped hearing these songs being sung (live, anyway), because by then everyone was writing their own songs.

So I've put together a group of five folk music veterans to do the best of these songs (along with a lot of humor and some historical perspective). Long Road is David Budin (guitar, vocals), Julia Mell (vocals), Kevin Richards (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Ray DeForest (bass) and Bob Sandham (guitar, vocals).

We did this show in Cain Park's Alma Theater last summer and it completely sold out. So we're doing it again (with a few changes) on Saturday, November 3, at 8:00 p.m., at the Kent Stage (175 E. Main St., Kent).

Tickets are only $10 in advance, $!2 day of show. Call 330-677-5005; or visit www.kentstage.org. We hope you can make it; you'll enjoy it.
