What is Taize' EVENSONG?

Taize' is a gathering of people to sing simple meditative CHANTS (mostly unaccompanied--although prior singing experience NOT necessary), interspersed with silence as well as the offering of common prayers, in a room filled with candlelight and incense.

The first Taize' community was established in a tiny French village in the early ‘40’s as a monastic community of worship and ecumenical witness for peace and reconciliation.

Brother Roger, the founder of Taize' wrote, “In a technological society, there is a clear separation between prayer and work. When inner life and human solidarity appear to be in competition with one another-- as if people had to choose between them,-- that opposition tears apart the very depth of the soul."

        All are Welcome

Every Sunday evening, from 6:00 to 6:30 pm, St. Alban's Church in Cleveland Heights, offers a half hour Taize' EVENSONG followed by a light supper of soup, bread, wine and fellowship.
