Announces Auditions For

THE HISTORY BOYS
The Prizewinning New British Satire on Education
By Alan Bennett
Directed by Sarah May



Auditions: Sunday, Nov. 4 and Monday, November 5 at 6:00PM. By  appointment 
only. Call 216-521-2540 to schedule a time slot.

All Roles are Open! Equity and Non-Equity performers welcome.

If your work is not known by the director, please prepare a short 
contemporary monologue. Others will be asked to read from the script and attempt a 
dialect.

Rehearsals: to begin approximately February 1.

Performance Dates: March 6 through March 30 on the Mainstage 

Casting Requirements: 
8 young men (16-28) who can play high school seniors. One must sing         
tenor, and one must play piano. This should be an ethnically diverse         
group of working class boys from Yorkshire who have qualified to take         
the entrance exam for Oxford and  Cambridge.         
1 actor 26-38, to play Irwin, the new teacher brought in to coach the boys 
in         the "tricks of test taking."  
2 mature actors 50-70, to play the ambitious headmaster, and Hector, the  
       charismatic teacher, pushing retirement, who tries to give his boys a  
       lifelong passion  for learning and living; and, perhaps, loves them too  
       much. 
1 mature actress 45-65, to play Mrs. Lintott, a veteran teacher and         
feminist who views modern education with a sense of irony.

Note: Area students wishing to read for "The Boys" but having conflicts the 
4th & 5th may also book appointments for Tuesday, November 13th from 5:00 to 
6:30PM.
