"The ODD Couple"

Centerstage Theater

David J. Banks, Director

The CenterStage Theater Department at Walsh Jesuit High School presents its Fall dramatic production of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple," November 8th at 7:00PM, November 9th and 10th at 7:30PM, and a matinee performance November 10th at 2:00PM. Director David Banks has added a new challenging twist to their program as they will also present Simon's "The Odd Couple, Female Version" the very next week on November 15th at 7:00PM, November 17th at 7:30PM, with matinee performances on November 17th and 18th at 2:00PM in the school's newly renovated Theatre, located at 4550 Wyoga Lake Road, in Cuyahoga Falls.

Both versions have been performed on Broadway, most recently with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the lead roles. Walter Mathau and Jack Lemmon starred in the original motion picture. The female version starred Sally Struthers and Rita Moreno. The comedic storyline is based around two divorcees who are now roommates. Oscar's sloppiness destroys a room with the speed of a tornado while the hypochondriac Felix's obsession with cleanliness could be classified as psychotic!

The Walsh Jesuit High School Theatre has completed a massive renovation, and "The Odd Couple" and "The Odd Couple, Female Version" will be the first theatrical presentations in the venue. It will feature all new lighting and sound, along with renovated seating and an enlarged backstage area.

Cast as Oscar Madison is Mark Leach of Norton, and Hayden Gilbert from Akron as Felix. Caroline Bach of Copley plays Florence, the female version of Felix and Elise Hapanowicz from Cleveland Heights plays Olive. The comedy also includes some fabulous supporting roles such as the Pigeon Sisters, played by Mary Belovich of Brecksville and Morgan Whitley of Chagrin Falls. Possibly even more outrageous are the Costazuela brothers from the female version, performed by Luke Hearty of Bedford, and Alex Coundourides of Brunswick. Rounding out the cast is Ryan Bellmore of Brecksville, Michael Saltis, Rachel Scarponi and Andrew Burge from Akron, Scott Salomone and Lauren Cole of Cuyahoga Falls, Jay Swedyk from Hinkley, Leanna Lostowski of Kent, Angela Jozsa of Stow and Jenna Shumiloff of Streetsboro.

Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and Senior Citizens groups. Senior group discounts are also available as well as for school groups.
