AUDITION for world-premiere chamber OPERA

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
"Costumbrismo, or Khandihba Wars"  This comic opera is about passion,  
desire, how societies function, and candy bars.
Performances:
   February 8-10, 2008, Cleveland Public Theatre 2008 Big [BOX]  
series of new works
Rehearsals:
   January 15-February 7, 2008; also three sitzprobes in December and  
January.

AUDITION INFORMATION
Auditions:
   Tuesday, November 13, 7-9pm
   Thursday, November 15, 7-9pm
   Saturday November 17, 2-5pm
     at Fairmount Center for the Performing Arts, 6622 Wilson Mills  
Road near S.O.M.
     Please note: the signage at the building reads "Mayfield Village  
Civic Center"
Requirements:
   Excellent diction in English, advanced musicianship, technical  
accuracy, good acting skills, and a sense of humor.
Audition material:
   Aria or complex Sondheim song/equivalent in English.
   Accompanist will be provided, sheet music must be in the correct key.
Appointments at 15-minute intervals will be taken 
(smmslt111 at gmail.com), and drop-ins will be accomodated on a first- 
come, first-served basis.
There are *NO* Equity contracts.

ROLES
Taffy Galore, Artist.   Soprano  C4-E6  Sensualist, self-indulgent,  
delightful; has beautiful tone and line, and gorgeous floated top break.
Mayor Marzi Mallo, Fanatic.  Mezzo-soprano  F3-Bb5  Comic, power- 
hungry - Sousa meets Dr Strangelove. (NOTE: this role is cast, but  
understudies will be considered)
Feuilletine Sneckoretta Gianduja, Monocandiac.   Mezzo-soprano G3- 
B5   Mesmerizing storyteller; seductive, charming, and smart.  Think  
Dr Frank N Furter, if he were played by a woman.
JellyAnn Mousse, Nibbler.   Contralto G3-F5  Mousy, excessively  
detail-oriented, has OCD and fabulous breath control.
Toothsome McSmackin, Dentist. Tenor C3-D5  S&M aficionado,  
libidinous, extremely attractive, full of zest, excellent musician.
Rok Craknel, Town historian.  Bass-baritone F2-F4  Folksy,  
comfortable, spins a good yarn.  Think Narrator in "Our Town" if he  
were played by Gene Kelly.
All characters can be sung by any age (adult) or race.
