"Southern trees bear strange fruit; blood on the leaves and blood at the
root."

These haunting lyrics made famous by Billie Holiday were penned by a
Jewish schoolteacher from the Bronx. Discover the fascinating story
behind Strange Fruit, the anti-lynching anthem of the 1940s that
impacted millions during the civil rights movement and endures today as
one of the world's most famous protest songs. Poet, artist, and
community activist Cavana Faithwalker will lead a post-viewing
discussion about the power of music to affect social change.
