The Northeast Ohio Chapter of Choristers Guild
presents
Passionate about Vocal Pedagogy
CHILDRENS CHOIR DIRECTORS’ DINNER AND CLINIC
Christy Elsner, Clinician
Passionate singing begins with a passion for pedagogy! This workshop will be a "hands on" session focused on how to get your children's choir involved physically, mentally, and emotionally with breath, posture, tone, diction, and musicality, increasing rehearsal efficiency and promoting connections with the congregation. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from such a renowned clinician as well as get to know other area directors better.

Bring a friend who might be interested as well. The workshop fee (including dinner) is ONLY $10 for Choristers Guild members and $20 for non-members.

Friday, March 7, 2008 6:00-9:00 p.m. Avon Lake UCC, Avon Lake, OH

The Allegro Community Children’s Choir was formed to enrich, inspire and transform the lives of children by learning, sharing and performing beautiful music. Since its creation by Christy Elsner in 2000, the organization has grown from one choir of 38 to three choirs with over 150 singers. Allegro represents many schools from the entire Kansas City Metro area and rehearses weekly during the school year.
Allegro instills enduring and beneficial qualities such as cooperation, community service, commitment, positive work ethic, intrinsic motivation, responsibility, and teamwork in its participants. ACCC aspires to teach a life-long appreciation for the arts to its members and their families, increase the quality of choral singing in schools and connect the hearts and minds of members with the audience.
The non-profit organization offers free concerts to the community three times a year and performs regularly at nursing homes and retirement centers as community outreach. Past performances include the Kansas State Capitol Sept. 11 Community Memorial Service, Star 102’s “The Monk and Kelly Show,” Midwest Wind Ensemble, “Christmas Kansas City” with the William Baker Festival Singers and the Kansas City Civic Orchestra. In 2003, the choir was selected to perform at the Kansas Music Educator Association’s annual convention in Wichita.
