"Iphigenia" is the story of a young girl who has been promised as a
human sacrifice by her own father in order to insure success in the
Trojan War. Drawing on two plays by Euripides, "Iphigenia in Aulis" and
"Iphigenia in Tauris," Director Terence Cranendonk has reduced the
performance to its essentials: one woman actor, a one-woman chorus
leader and a chorus of two drummers.

World-renowned dancer and drummer Habib Iddrisu composed the percussion
score, performed by two of his students.

The production explores the powerful pull of love and darkness in a
father-daughter relationship and looks at the many ways in which parents
may sacrifice their young to irresistible social pressures.
