Hi, everyone,

Well, summer proved to be an unusually busy season for auditions for children. Many of our kids auditioned for a SAG film ("In Northwood"), an Ohio Lottery commercial and a Dick's Sporting goods spot. Autumn is an even busier time, historically, so plan on taking a class so you are ready to compete for these lucrative (and fun!) jobs.  You can click here http://store02.prostores.com/servlet/donnabelajaccasting/Categories for more detail and to register.

Children and adults alike will find something of interest. Here's a brief description of what we have to offer for kids and teens this fall:

ACT FREELY (Kids)
If you are new at this ‘acting thing' but want to learn alongside other kids who just love to become someone else, this is the class just for you! What could be more fun than letting your imagination run wild and creative expression run free? Through improvisation in a no-risk environment, you’ll learn to use what comes naturally and may even discover a bold new you along the way. This beginners’ class also helps to develop the concentration skills you need to perform with confidence in front of an audience.

ACT LIKE A PRO (Teens)
This is a slice-of-life-preview for focused teens and pre-teens who are considering acting as a career choice or who simply crave the joy of learning the craft. This intermediate class will give you a taste of the professional work ethic as you prepare the kinds of short scenes and monologues required for college auditions or commercial use. A basic acting class or performance experience is recommended, but not required, for this course.

ACT WITH CLASS (Teens)
“The play’s the thing” and there’s no better introduction to classical performance style than the words of William Shakespeare. You’ll analyze and paraphrase the elevated language of the Bard’s plays and poems, learning how to express its rich meaning through pronunciation, phrasing, and playing actively to your audience. Goals of the class include preparing scenes and monologues appropriate to Shakespeare competitions and college auditions.

NAILING YOUR AUDITION (Teens)
This course is geared specifically to the student who is preparing for College and Governor’s School Auditions. Every session will challenge your abilities, test your discipline and stretch your skills, all from a safe place. You’ll also get help with selecting monologue material to suit your age and type, finding reputable performing arts programs and preparing your performance resume. At the end of sixteen weeks, you’ll be set to succeed with two to eight contrasting monologues from contemporary and classical works, and (if needed) guidance on filming your audition.

There are great options for adults, too, with a new class geared to actors who want to learn more about working on a film set. See "Getting The Gig...and Looking Like It Isn't Your First!"  And we're now offering an Improv class with the very funny Dave Flick. Take his class to learn this skill that is so important in film and television acting and auditioning!

We have just finished updating our fall class schedule! There are a plethora of classes for both children and adults taught by an extremely talented staff.  All of the classes are offered here in the studio. Provided below is a brief explanation of all of our classes and for more in depth information go to our website http://store02.prostores.com/servlet/donnabelajaccasting/Categories.

ACTING FOR FILM- BEGINNER (Adult)
In this class, beginning students or actors with no formal training will rehearse and perform scenes from a range of screenplays and theatrical productions. Each student will work with a scene partner on several pieces during the twelve weeks.
Students will learn basic acting techniques including breaking down the script into beats and actions, learning how to actively pursue objectives, create character, and make choices based on the super-objective of the character.
This class is limited to 12 students.

ACTING FOR FILM- INTERMEDIATE (Adults)
The place for actors with some previous training and/or performance experience to concentrate on the development of acting skills through a variety of scene studies utilizing current film scripts.
This class is limited to 12 students.

FIND YOUR VOICE OVER CLASSES (Adult)
Learn all of the technique and gain real world experience toward becoming a working voice-over artist with Jean Zarzour. All recording equipment and copy will be provided. All you need to bring is a bottle of water to cool your chords! You’ll learn Proper Studio Etiquette, Industry Terminology and Microphone Technique with the option to explore a variety of "reads" like: Announcer - Character Voices - Dialects - Industrial Narration - Real Person - 2 Person Dialogue - Hard & Soft Sell - Cold Readings...

GETTING THE GIG (Adult)
An intensive on-camera workshop to prepare the actor for working on a film or television set.  In addition to shooting scenes from original scripts, students will also learn industry ettiquette and terminology such as 'on the day', 'golden time', and 'magic hour'; how a scene is shot; how to complete industry paperwork; and a who's who on the set.  A film or television set is a world unlike any other and Joe Coyle has been there as an extra, stand-in, principal performer, writer, director, and producer.  At the end of this workshop you will know what to expect so you won't have to hear on your first day on the set, "What are you, new?"
