Acting for Dancers
November 16
For Teens and Young Dancers 12 - 4pm

These two unique classes will on focus on dramatic technique for young dancers. New and experienced artists alike will develop essential performance skills while exploring their own body as the central dramatic instrument of the theatre. Class will explore basic dramatic theory, character, status, complicity, corporeal technique, dramatic and comic form as it is expressed through movement, musicality, concentration and choreography skills in this physical approach to performance for the live stage.
 
Instructor: Stephen Chipps is a resident artist with the Ohio Arts Council - Arts Learning Program. He is a faculty member of The School for Mime Theatre, co-founder of two national touring companies and a summer Youth Mime Theatre Program now in its sixth year at Kenyon College. He has toured in over 45 states throughout the US and six countries including Japan, Korea, Okinawa, Canada, Puerto Rico and China. Stephen is a student of mime and movement masters Marcel Marceau, Stefan Niedzialkowski, the Goldston & Johnson School for Mimes and the Saskatchewan Seminars for Mime and Movement Theatre.
