PETER YARROW TO GIVE FREE CONCERT

WITH TOP LOCAL ARTISTS ON OCTOBER 26

Peter Yarrow, of the legendary folk music trio Peter, Paul
& Mary, comes to the Beachland Ballroom (15711 Waterloo, Cleveland;
216-383-1124), Sunday, October 26, at 7:00 p.m., to perform in a free concert.

The concert, called “The Audacity of Votes: A Concert for
Change” is a get-out-the-vote event that also features popular local artists
Carlos Jones (reggae), Kristine Jackson (blues), the Prayer Warriors (gospel), and
Noah Budin (original folk-pop).

The concert is free, with an optional suggested $5 donation
to help cover costs.

Peter Yarrow is a member of the Peter, Paul & Mary, the most successful folk music group in
history.  At 70, Yarrow is not only one
of the best-known proponents of the late-1950s/early ‘60s American folk music
revival movement, but he is still extremely active, as a performer and social
activist.

Peter,
Paul and Mary sang at the March on Washington
in 1963 and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the historic Selma-to-Montgomery march
in 1965.  Yarrow helped
organize and run the early Newport Folk Festivals, which launched the careers
of many young folk singers, such as Bob Dylan and Joan Baez.

Yarrow has
written several well-known songs, including “Puff, the Magic Dragon,” a
children’s song recorded by Peter, Paul & Mary, and "Torn Between Two
Lovers," a number-1hit for Mary McGregor.
This past spring, "Peter, Bethany & Rufus: Spirit of
Woodstock" appeared on national public television. It featured 17 songs,
performed in concert with his daughter, Bethany.

Yarrow started
Operation Respect, a non-profit organization, founded in 2000, that offers
children a curriculum of tolerance and respect for each other's differences in
schools and camps around the country.  He
also founded the “Save One Child” Fund at Beth
Israel Hospital’s
Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (INN) in 1996
to provide free medical care for children from all over the world, whose
families could not afford their critically needed neurosurgery.  In
2003, a Congressional resolution recognized Yarrow's achievements and those of
Operation Respect.  Still as active as
ever, Yarrow continues to tour and record.

“The Audacity of Votes: A Concert for Change,” produced by
musicians Noah Budin (ARC Inc. – The Arts Recreating Communities) and David
Budin (PopCycles Productions), is not sponsored by any candidate, political
party, candidate’s committee or any other organization.
