OHIO YOUTH BALLET PURCHASES DANCE SCHOOL

 

CANAL FULTON - The Ohio Youth Ballet Board of Trustees is excited to
announce the purchase of The Turning Pointe School of Dance, 2387 Locust St.
S., Canal Fulton, where the non-profit pre-professional dance company has
trained the past four years.

 

"This has always been my long-term goal," says Terry Irion, founder of The
Turning Pointe School of Dance, who will continue to serve as advisor for
the group. "With the OYB entering its 10th season, timing is perfect. I am
very excited about this change...it will help the Ohio Youth Ballet and
Dance School move forward with its mission of bringing dance to the
community."

 

Natalya Vyashenko-Connor, former company member of the Alisher Navoi State
Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet

in the capital of Uzbekistan, is the managing artistic director of the OYB.
Dani Aleman is the artistic director of the Dance Team division. Nicole
McKinney is the new director of operations.

 

The Ohio Youth Ballet and Dance School offers classes in numerous dance
styles for pre-school age through adult. Workshops in ballroom dancing,
belly dancing and other genres are offered throughout the year, as well as
master classes. 

 

The dance school also is known for its elite performance team. Auditions are
held throughout the year for dancers ages 8 and older. The Ohio Youth Ballet
and Dance Team provides a unique presence in Northeast Ohio through
community outreach programs at schools, libraries, nursing homes and
festivals. Members of the company have gone on to join professional
companies; have won prestigious competitions; have received summer training
scholarships with professional dance companies; and have received college
scholarships in dance, musical theatre, and other fields. Others can be seen
on Broadway and regional theatre, MTV videos and more.
