coaches and arrangers...DEBRA BYRD. Byrd is and has  been the vocal coach and 
arranger for AMERICAN IDOL and CANADIAN IDOL since  season one. She is also the 
vocal coach for "HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL the  Tour",Jordin Sparks, Fantasia, Carrie 
Underwood, Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard,  Justin Timberlake, Adriane Lenox, 
North American Music Tours, Holland Cruise  Lines,"ALL MY CHILDREN" and KELLY 
CLARSON.
 
The consummate  artist,Byrd is from Cleveland, Ohio. She got her start at the 
famous Karamu  Theatre, and served as Musical Director for E. Cleveland and 
Dobama  Theatres. While in Cleveland she narrated numerous children's concerts 
for  the world renown Cleveland Orchestra.After studying Opera, acting and  
arranging she moved to New York to "play with the big  kids".
 
Byrd's resume  includes a longtime association with Barry Manilow, starting 
as a backup singer,  then becoming his opening act,and creating vocal 
arrangements for many of  Manilow's tours,and shows. She has also sang duets with Bob 
Dylan, as well as  touring and recording with The Eurythmics, UB 40, Lyle 
Lovett, Roberta Flack,  Patti Austin and Bob Geldof.Her voice can be heard on 
numerous movie soundtracks  like Lion King,First Wives Club, Preacher's Wife, 
Thumbelina and  Sister Act 2.
 
As an actor she  received outstanding reviews for her role as "DA SINGER" in 
the national tour of  "BRING IN DA NOISE, BRING IN DA  FUNK" .She has been 
featured on Broadway in THE HUMAN COMEDY, HARLEM NOCTURNE  AND AIN'T MISBEHAVEN.
 
 
If you have ever  auditioned or wanted to audition for anything vocal like a 
Broadway show,  TV, local musicals and other vocal opportunities, now is your  
chance to get the upper hand and learn from the best.
 
WELCOME to STAR  SCHOOL is a workshop that will put you through the paces of 
a "vocal boot  camp".Byrd will present successful vocal techniques to  
include, breathing, warm up tips,finding the right audition song, how  to cut or 
arrange that audition song, nerve-calming exercises, discussions  on living, 
working and surviving in the big cities of New York and  LA.
 
This is a workshop  serious singers (teachers and parents) don't want to 
miss. Byrd will build  the confidence of any singer. No other workshop will 
compare with the  realism Byrd shares with the participants of  STAR  SCHOOL!  Many 
attendees will receive personal instruction and input  for their future 
auditions from Byrd!
